Fallon, Paul X.

Paul X. Fallon, 73, of Canton, died in his home March 1, 2013.

Paul grew up in Roslindale and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before moving to Canton in 1968. He became a union steward and worked as an MBTA operator for over 20 years. After retirement, Paul worked as a driver for the Canton Council on Aging. He was a member of the American Legion Beatty Post #24 in Canton.

Father of Shawn Fallon and his wife, Andrea, of Milford, Duke Fallon of Canton, Anthony Fallon and his wife, Darcy, of Milford, and Matthew Fallon and his wife, Jeanne, of Franklin. Brother of Edmund Fallon of West Roxbury and the late Francis “Sid” Fallon and James Fallon. Former husband of Joyce Birks-Fallon. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Interment at the National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to the Canton Department of Veterans Services, 92 Pleasant St., Williams Estate, Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.

Dorothy M. Goggin (Hayes), 85, died peacefully March 2, 2013.

GogginBorn in Boston, she was raised in Charlestown. She proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves during the Korean War. Dorothy worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Beacon Sales in Somerville for over 17 years. She was a member of the “Old Charlestown School Girls” and was a part-time senior receptionist at the desk in the Canton Town Hall. She was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church for many years and regularly attended the 9 a.m. daily mass.

Devoted wife of the late Richard X. Goggin. Loving mother of Richard F. Goggin and his wife, Nancy, of Randolph, John H. Goggin and his wife, Susan, of Dedham, and Daniel J. Goggin and his wife, Melanie, of Gaithersburg, MD. Loving sister of Marjorie Monahan of Canton and the late Joseph Hayes and Joan Carney. Proud grandmother of Teresa, Kayla, Joseph, Caroline, Jack, Paul, Luke, and Peter Goggin.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Barnsley, Sidney O.

Sidney O. Barnsley, formerly of Canton, passed away on March 6, 2013, in Meredith, New Hampshire.

barnsley, sidneySidney was born in Boston on October 8, 1923. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served as a B-17 pilot and saw duty in England. He married Carla Bergren on June 25, 1944, and they were posted to Roswell, New Mexico for the remainder of his tour. While in New Mexico, two of their children were born. They returned to Canton, where they lived until 1985.

Sidney was employed as a printer until 1967 when he changed careers and became a graphic arts teacher at Blue Hills Regional Technical High School. During their years in Canton, he was active in Trinity Episcopal Church and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sharon as a lay reader and Sunday school superintendent. They also had three more children during this time. He retired from teaching in 1985 and moved with his wife to Bethlehem and then Tryon, North Carolina.

In North Carolina, Sidney was an active volunteer. He volunteered at the pharmacy of local hospitals, was a SHIP volunteer and was active in the local AARP groups. Once in Tryon he continued his love of printing with a part-time job at the Tryon Daily Bulletin. While living at White Oaks Village, he was always quick with a joke and willing to lend a helping hand.

He was predeceased by Carla, his wife of 66 years. He is survived by his children: Sandra Berks Hicks (Ron Belanger) of Silver City, NM, Gordon Barnsley of Kemp, TX, Clifford Barnsley of Edgartown, Bradford Barnsley (Mary) of Bridgewater, and Melinda (Maryann) of Meredith, NH, as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Tryon, NC. Interment will be held in the Memorial Garden at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross.

Francis X. Felcon, 61, of Canton, passed away suddenly at home March 10.

Born in San Angelo, Texas, he was raised and educated in Willingboro, New Jersey, and graduated from Rutgers University. He has lived in Canton since 1985 and was a senior investment officer with John Hancock for many years before he retired in 2003. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing basketball at the JCC in Stoughton.

Beloved husband of Kathy K. (Knowlton). Father of Matthew K. and Rebecca K., both of Canton. Brother of Colleen Bingham and Thomas Felcon, both of FL, Michael, Terence, Anthony and Robert Felcon, all of NJ, and the late Joseph Felcon. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Carole Puopolo of Canton passed away March 10 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.

paupoloBorn in Dorchester, she graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Boston and Boston State Teachers College. She worked for a time as a teacher in the Medford schools and was a devoted housewife and mother. She has lived in Canton for the last 43 years.

Beloved wife of Edward V. Mother of Edward V. II of East Bridgewater, Roslynne Malonson of FL, Kimberly A. Larcom of Bridgewater, Robert E. of Wellesley, Stephen E. of Tewksbury, and Brian E. of Norwood. Sister of Frank Collins of Mansfield and Joan Collins of Canton. Also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Agnes F. Sykes (Skehan), 93, of Canton, passed away March 11 at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton.

Sykes, AgnesBorn and raised in Boston, she attended St. Margaret’s School in Dorchester. She has lived in Canton for 60 years and was a member of the Canton Catholic Women’s Club, St. John the Evangelist Altar Guild, and the Legion of Mary.

Beloved wife for 70 years of George C. Sr. Mother of George C. Jr and his friend Elaine of Florida, Stephen F. and his wife, Chris, of CA, Gerard J. of Newton, and Robert E. and his wife, Janet, of Canton. Mother-in-law of Cathy Sykes of Hanover. Margaret F. “Tolly” Millerick (Walsh), 94, of Greenville, Rhode Island, formerly of Canton, died peacefully March 20, 2013, following a long illness.

She was the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Walsh. She grew up in Melrose before moving to Canton in 1964. Tolly worked as an engineering assistant for the telephone company until retiring in 1983. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton for many years, donating her time and service. She was also a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers.

Devoted wife of the late Leo F. Millerick. Loving stepmother of Kevin L Millerick of Pompano Beach, FL. Loving sister of Eileen Cronin of Martha’s Vineyard. Tolly is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Edward F. Badejo, 23, of Sharon, passed away suddenly March 21 at Norwood Hospital.

badejoBorn in Brockton, he was raised in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School in 2008 and was currently a student at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College in Cambridge. He loved all sports and played Pop Warner Football and basketball while growing up and for Sharon High School. He loved listening to all music.

Beloved son of Stacey and Edward Badejo of Sharon. Brother of Nikki Hershman and her husband, Shaun, of Easton. Grandson of Marcia and Dennis Blau of Sharon, Bob Badejo of FL and the late Joan Badejo. Also survived by the love of his life, Samantha Spiegel of Sharon, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

John P. Missler, 80, of Canton, passed away March 24 at Norwood Hospital.

MisslerBorn in Dedham, he was raised in Canton, attended Canton schools, and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He worked on the grounds crew at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton for 39 years and retired in 2000. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed bowling and was a former member of the Westgate Lanes Bowling League.

Beloved husband of Patricia (Harrington). Father of Debbie Kelly and her husband, Thomas, of Canton. Grandfather of Jonathan Perrotton and his girlfriend, Maggie McCarey, of Jamaica Plain and Joshua Perrotton and his girlfriend, Julie McCarey, of Allston. Brother of Betty Dugan of Pembroke. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

mccarthy, johnBorn and raised in Stoughton, he graduated from Stoughton High School. He has lived in Canton since 1960 and worked for Clayton Uniform in Norwood for 15 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the American Legion Post #24, the Canton Town Club, and the Stoughton VFW.

Concetta M. “Meem” Grasso (Arini), of Stoughton, passed away March 27 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Grasso, CBorn and raised in Roslindale, she attended Boston schools. She previously worked for MIT as a bookkeeper, the Town Line Bakery in Canton, and at the York Steak House in Brockton as a cashier. She has lived in Stoughton since 1970 and previously lived in Avon.

Beloved wife of the late Rosario J. Mother of Jeanne Washburn of Bridgewater and Linda Varnadore of Brockton. Sister of Salvatore Arini of Quincy and the late Joanne Belanger and Josephine O’Connell. Grandmother of Steven Washburn of Bridgewater, Brian Washburn of Canton, and Shane and Christopher Varnadore, both of Brockton. Also survived by three great-grandchildren.

Paul F. Wolffe, 49, of Taunton, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston March 29.

Wolffe, PaulBorn in Norwood, he was raised in Canton and Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a carpenter for Union Local #624 in Randolph. He was a member of the Italian Nationalization Club in Taunton and was an avid motorcyclist and fisherman.

He is survived by his beloved fiancée, Tiffany A. Moran, of Taunton. Father of Jeremy P. Wolffe of Taunton. Son of the late Margaret and Donald Wolffe, Sr. Brother of Donald X. Wolffe, Jr. of Taunton, Margaret E. Manning of Brockton, Donna M. Wolffe of Taunton, and the late Patricia A. Wolffe. Stepbrother of Arline Colp of Stoughton, Marianne Taylor of Canton, Richard Flint of WV, and James Flint of Stoughton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen M. Curry (Sweeney), 57, of Canton, registered nurse, died peacefully surrounded by her family on March 30 following a long courageous battle with liver disease.

Curry, KathyDaughter of the late Kathleen and George T. Sweeney of Milton. She is survived by her former husband, William J. Curry of Uxbridge. Devoted mother of Kaitlyn Barry and her husband, Jay, of North Easton, William P. Curry and his wife, Julianne, of Stoughton, and Patrick Curry of Canton. Sister of George M. Sweeney of Colrain, Paul Sweeney of Norwell, Joseph Sweeney of Lafayette, Oregon, Timothy Sweeney of Vancouver, Washington, and the late Noreen Sweeney. Loving and very proud grandmother of Madeline and Emma Barry, and a third granddaughter due this July. Daughter-in-law of the late Edmund and Marcelyn Curry of Stoughton. Also fondly remembered by countless relatives, friends, neighbors, and colleagues at Newton Wellesley Pediatrics.

Kathy will be forever remembered for her bright smile, contagious laugh, uplifting personality, and love for her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, the Christmas season, and sunny days at the beach.

Born and raised in Boston, she graduated from Jeremiah Burke High School. She was a devoted housewife and mother and has lived in Quincy for over 40 years.

Elizabeth (Betty) Howard, 91, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2013.

howardBetty was born and raised in Canton and attended Canton schools, graduating from Canton High School in 1938 as class valedictorian. She married the late John (Jack) Howard on May 1, 1944, and upon his return from service in World War II, they raised four boys. Betty worked for Shawmut Bank of Boston in the Investment Division for many years before retiring to Florida.

Betty leaves her four sons, John of Easton, Glenn and his wife, Elizabeth, of Sugarland, TX, Scott and his wife, Debby, of Rio Rancho, NM, and Gary and his wife, Sheila, of West Bridgewater. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Coleen, of Canton, Jesse of Canton, and Laura of Culver City, CA, and a great granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth of Canton.

Ever energetic and intellectually sharp, Betty was an active and respected member of her retirement community, a beloved mother and a treasured grandmother and great-grandmother.

At her request, services in Florida will be private and without a lot of fuss, just the way she wanted it.

Ann B. Powers (McGowan), 85, of Canton, formerly of Norwood and West Roxbury, died April 6, 2013, following a brief illness.

Born in Boston, she attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Jamaica Plain. She enjoyed summering in West Dennis with her family. She moved to Canton in 1986 and worked as a bookkeeper for Bowden Company and later for Sandeev Company for many years.

She was an accomplished organist and as a young woman played throughout the local area. After retirement she became a receptionist at the Charwell Nursing Home in Norwood. Ann was hard working and enjoyed reading, sewing, and the ocean. She was proud of and dedicated to her children.

Devoted wife of the late John F. Powers. Loving mother of Linda Alger of Centerville, Janet Dorrwachter and her husband, David, of Dedham, Dianne Kewriga and her husband, Patrick, of Stoughton, Kevin Powers and his wife, Lori, of Norwood, and the late John F. Powers. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

William F. Grant Jr., 89, of Sharon, formerly of Canton, died April 9, 2013.

William was born in Norwood and grew up in Canton. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was the owner of Johnson Cleaners in Canton for over 25 years. He later worked as a custodian for the Canton Public Schools until retirement.

Devoted husband of Mary H. Grant (Johnson). Loving father of William F. Grant III and his wife, Catherine, of Canton and Plymouth, NH. William is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, April 11, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, followed by a mass of Christian burial in Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon. Margaret R. Gibbs (Bucci), 86, of Plymouth, formerly of Canton, passed away at the Life Care Center in Plymouth April 11.

Gibbs, MargaretBorn and raised in Canton, she graduated from St. John’s School in Canton and Fisher Jr. College. She worked with Stone & Webster in Boston and as an executive secretary for Raytheon for many years before retiring in 1975. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed cooking, reading and ceramics.

Beloved wife of the late Clinton A. Mother of Michael Gibbs and his wife, Sally, of Buzzards Bay. Sister of Rose Barron of North Attleboro and the late Mary Grant, Walter, George, John, Joseph and Anthony Bucci. Aunt of Cynthia Jacobson of Hanson, Eleanor Grant of Plymouth, Marcia Silvestri of Plainville, Paula Barron of Florence, and Joan Smith of North Attleboro. Grandmother of Chad and Charles King.

Lowell A. Ascher, of Hingham, 81, formerly of Braintree and Canton, died April 25, 2013.

AscherLowell grew up in South Dakota. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he met his wife. He served in Korea during the Korean War. Later, he graduated from Northeastern University and the new couple decided to settle in this area and raise a family. Lowell worked as a sales engineer for Hewlett-Packard for 31 years.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many days fly fishing on the Cape Cod Canal. He was a longtime member of the Recreational Fishing Alliance. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing his own vegetables, which all his neighbors were able to enjoy. He loved spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of Patricia (Tangney) Ascher. Loving father of Joseph Ascher of Novato, CA, Julie Ascher of Santa Barbara, CA, Mary Kazan of Clinton, NJ, and Valerie Odell of Sandwich. Cherished grandfather of Eric, Christina, Dennis, Angela, Bob, John, Brandon, Kailee, and Mark, and great-grandfather to Tyler, Ryan, Mya, and Lyla. Brother of the late Gladys, Elmer, Irene, Luella and Kenneth. Lowell also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
