Susan E. McDonald (McGuffy), 60, passed away suddenly February 28 at home.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, she graduated from Osborne High School in Detroit. She worked as a loan officer for Norfolk County Employee’s Credit Union for several years before recently retiring.

Beloved wife of Stephen A. Mother of Caitlan and Michael McDonald, both of Canton. Sister of Kathy LaFave and Peggy Nicholson, both of Michigan.

William C. Cravens, Sr., 88, of Canton, passed away March 3 at the Madonna Manor in North Attleboro.

cravensBorn and raised in Huntington, West Virginia, he graduated from Huntington High School. He went on to attend the University of Kentucky, where he played basketball for Adolph Rupp and later graduated from Marshall University in West Virginia. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a production manager for Raytheon, Electro Switch, Computer Vision, Bomar, and finally retired from GTE.

He has lived in Canton for 53 years where he previously was a sportswriter for the Canton Journal, a coach for the Canton Football Association, and was an avid fan of all the Canton High sports teams.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Francis (Woods). Father of Edward Cravens and his wife, Joyce, of East Bridgewater, William Cravens and his wife, Rose, of Canton, Carol Duggan and her husband, William, of Canton, and Kimberly Piro and her husband, Joseph, of Mansfield. Also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Thomas F. Timmons, Sr., 94, of Canton, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away March 4 at home surrounded by his loving family.

timmonsBorn and raised in Newton, he graduated from Newton High School, Suffolk University, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for the city of Newton for many years in the Recreation Department before retiring. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #157 in Newton and the American Legion Post #440 in Newton. He enjoyed going to mass, dancing, the ocean, and playing poker with his buddies.

Beloved husband of the late Edna (Powers). Father of Barbara Vito of Norwood, Debbie Weckesser of Hanover, Donna Sola and her husband, Anthony, of Dedham, Thomas F. Timmons, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of West Roxbury, Michael Timmons and his wife, Sharon, of West Roxbury, Richard Timmons and his wife, Cindy, of Franklin, John Timmons and his wife, Patricia, of Canton, and Susan Sullivan and her husband, Stephen, of Canton. Also survived by 31 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Remy, Reginald

Reginald Remy, 92, formerly of Fall River, passed away February 28, 2014. The kind and generous spirit of Regi Remy succumbed after a short illness, surrounded by his family.

reginald remyReginald was born in Fall River, a son of the late Leon Remy and Marie-Louise (Ferland) Remy. Married for 65 years to his beloved Claire (Charette), they raised three boys in Fall River. Regi was known for his devotion to his family, friends and community. He was particularly involved in helping the disabled community as their oldest son, Paul, was born with cerebral palsy.

Regi was a graduate of Le Prevost High School and worked for over 30 years as a budget analyst at the Naval Underwater System Center in Newport, Rhode Island. He served in World War II as a French interpreter, photographer and marksman from 1942-1945. When he returned he married the young woman who had been sending him letters of encouragement during the war. Later, he wanted to help those in financial need and helped to start the Blessed Sacrament Credit Union. He was the treasurer for over 40 years and was glad to help people in need. He enjoyed his garden, baseball, football, a good restaurant, and occasional trips to Atlantic City.

Besides his wife, Claire, he leaves three sons: Paul of Sharon, Robert of Newfoundland, Canada, and Roger and his wife, Susan (Lockett), of Canton. He will be greatly missed by his adored grandchildren, Julia Claire and Sophia Marie. He also leaves a brother, Bertrand, of Somerset, and two sisters, Theresa Remy and Lorraine Lemay, of Fall River, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, March 4, in the Parish of Holy Trinity in Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. William E. Boushell, 84, of Canton, died March 13, 2014, after a brief illness.

BoushellBill was a retired Dedham police officer and a Korean War veteran. Born in Boston, he grew up in Roslindale and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1947. Bill spent two years serving in the U.S. Army as a corporal and was stationed in Bordeaux, France, during the Korean War.

Bill served 30 years as a police officer in Dedham. He was Dedham’s first full-time safety officer for over 10 years. He was known as “Officer Bill” by the schoolchildren. He served twice as president of the Dedham Patrolman’s Association. He was also a member of the Massachusetts Safety Officers League and once held the position of chairman of the board of directors. He twice served as president of the South Shore Safety Officers League. He was a member of the American Legion Post #18 in Dedham and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #4.

Bill was known for his love of animals, both domestic and wild. His assorted furry and feathered friends were among his favorite “people.”

He was the son of the late Elizabeth and Harry Boushell. Devoted husband of 45 years to Patricia Boushell (Rodgers) of Canton. Loving father of William H. Boushell of Canton and Christine M. Hogan and her husband, Thomas, of Canton. Brother of the late George and Helen Boushell.

A funeral service was celebrated Monday morning, March 17, in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. John B. Robinson of Walpole, formerly of Canton, passed away March 14 at South Shore Hospital.

Robinson, JohnBorn and raised in Fall River, he graduated from Durfee High School and Bentley College with a degree in accounting. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and worked as an accountant for Nynex for over 35 years and retired in 1983. He was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Canton and was an avid golfer and bowler.

Beloved husband of the late Muriel E. (Hughes). Father of David J. and his wife, Marla, of Hanover and William G. and his wife, Ann, of Brockton. Grandfather of Andrew, Jillian and Brian Robinson, all of Hanover, and Mary and John Robinson of Brockton. Brother of the late Mildred Barlow and Marjorie, Frank and Kenneth Robinson.

HurleyBorn and raised in Winthrop, Bennett moved to Canton with his wife in 1972 and worked as a mechanical engineer and project manager in the power plant industry.

Frances H. Morganelli (Savino), 85, of Canton, formerly of Sharon, passed away March 19 at Norwood Hospital.

morganelliBorn and raised in Sharon, she graduated from Sharon High School and lived in Sharon until moving to Canton in 1996. She was a devoted housewife and mother and in her spare time she enjoyed listening to music and taking walks around Sharon Lake.

Beloved wife of the late Nicholas F. Mother of Lorraine Williams and her husband, Robert, of Canton, James Morganelli of Canton, Nancy Parsons and her husband, Glenn, of Westwood, and the late Carol Hollister. She was pre-deceased by 10 brothers and sisters. Also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Francis “Frank” T. Mosley, 70, of Assonet, formerly of Canton and Brockton, died after an extended illness on Saturday, March 15, 2014, in the Kindred Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Walden in Concord.

mosleyFrank was born in Canton on September 17, 1943, to the late William and Claire (Ronayne) Mosley. He grew up in Canton and attended Cathedral High School in Boston. He married Sonja Evelyne Benson in 1969 and raised his family in Brockton. When his children had grown he moved to Assonet, where he has lived for the past 20 years.

Frank worked and retired from St. Johnsburry Trucking where he was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid reader, camper, fisherman, and card player. Frank was a Boston sports fan who held Patriots season tickets. He loved traveling both domestically and internationally and traveling cross country in his RV. He loved entertaining and especially loved being surrounded by family and friends.

He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Sonja E. Mosley, who passed on December 15, 2013.

Loving father of Barbara J. (Mosley) Doyle and her husband, Joseph E. Doyle, of Belmont, and Scott A. Mosley and his wife, Elizabeth (Deming) Mosley, of Providence, RI. Proud grandfather to Jason, Samantha, John, Suzanne and William, and great-grandfather to Azhelia, Mason and Isis. Brother to William and Diane Mosley of Sebastian, FL, Joanne Dee of Newington, CT, and Trisha Browne of Ft. Myers, FL. He leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.

George R. MacPhail Jr., 88, of Canton, passed away April 1 at the Harrington House in Walpole.

MacPhail, GeorgeBorn and raised in Dorchester, George graduated from English High School. Corporal MacPhail enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving overseas during World War II on the SS Black. George and his wife, Frances, moved to Canton in 1948. Mr. MacPhail worked as a warehouse foreman for the Quincy Market in Boston for many years before retiring in 1987.

He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post #24 and previously was a coach for Canton Youth Football. George served as both an auxiliary police officer and a special police officer in Canton and worked on the grounds of Canton Corner Cemetery, where he was responsible for installing the bricks at the Cemetery Walk of Honor.

Beloved husband of the late Frances E. (Hiltz). Loving father of Linda H. Parker and her husband, Charlie, of Canton, Gordon A. MacPhail and Carol Holly of Holliston, Mary-Ellen Hill and her husband, Jim, of FL, and the late Richard A. and William D. Brother of the late Evelyn Haight. Brother-in-law of Arnold Haight of Canton. Also survived by his eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Edna J. (Warren) Tenney, nearly 99, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Canton, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2014.

tenneyShe was the beloved daughter of the late James Wilbur Warren and Mary (Carey) Warren, and wife of the late Harold Tenney. Loving sister of the late Gertrude Bowman, Doris Brady, and James Warren. Beloved mother of Carol (Davenport) Koehler and her husband, Milt, of Naples, FL, Edna Lauer and her husband, Paul, of Weeki Wachee, FL, Doris (Friedeborn) Voye and her husband, Dave, of Lakeville, and Steven Tenney of Gibbsboro, NJ. Cherished grandmother of Joyce Davenport, Paul and Barbara Davenport, Paul and Lori Mooney, and Bill and Donna Hamrock, all of Canton, and Bonnie, Debbie, Sharon, Janice, Christina and Jacqui. Also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Edna was born on March 21, 1915, in Boston and she dedicated her life to raising her four children and truly enjoying every minute with her family. A warm and energetic woman who inspired joy by loving those around her, she finally got the chance to relax and enjoy her life in sunny Florida with her eldest daughter, Carol. She was a devoted member of St Gerard’s Church. She was an avid golfer and belonged to the women’s division at Ponkapoag Golf Course. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Charles Edward Hagan, 84, of Borrego Springs, CA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2.

haganBorn in Norwood, he grew up in Canton, graduating from Canton High in 1946 and Boston College in 1951. He was chief engineer at Microsonics in Weymouth for many years before moving to California in 1978 to work with TRW. He was a longtime member of the Canton Town Club, Wampatuck Country Club, and St. John the Evangelist and St. Gerard Majella parishes.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Clare A. (Gillis); children Elaine Hagan, Jill Serrano, and Jim (Daphne) Hagan of CA, Chuck (Cherie Lynn) Hagan of CO, and Kathleen (Greg) Walls of Germany; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine (Leary) and James Hagan, and three brothers, Richard (Dick), William (Bill), and David.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 11, at St. Richard’s Parish, Borrego Springs, CA. Burial will be held at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.

Jean E. Sicard-Kelleher, 54, of Canton, passed away April 8 at home surrounded by her loving family.

kelleherBorn in Warwick, Rhode Island, she lived almost her entire life in Canton and graduated from Canton High School, Class of 1977. She received her bachelor’s from Boston College and her master’s in education from Wheelock College. She previously taught at the Massachusetts Hospital School and has been a teacher at St. John the Evangelist School in Canton for the last 30 years.

Jean was a standout athlete and was an All-American field hockey player at Boston College. She was an avid soccer fan and was the team mother for the South Coast Scorpions and the Boston University soccer team, where her daughter Shauna played college soccer. Jean was a member and former lifeguard of the Ponkapoag Civic and pool director at Nobles and Greenough School Summer Day Camp.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael R. Kelleher. Devoted mother of Shauna R. of South Boston and Matthew D. of CA. Sister of Clair Lund and her husband, Scott, of Canton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Dorchester, she was raised in Mission Hill and graduated from Mission High. She worked as a secretary for General Electric and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital before retiring. She has lived in Canton for the last 16 years and previously lived in Allston.

Geraldine F. McFadden (Tobin), 91, of Sharon, passed away unexpectedly April 14 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Born in Revere, she was raised in South Boston and attended Boston schools and Kelly Business School in Boston. She worked as an accountant for Hardware Mutual and Quincy Mutual for several years before retiring. She has lived in Sharon for the last 20 years and previously lived in Stoughton and Canton. She was a devoted and longtime parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. She was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Bruins and Red Sox and also loved reading the Wall Street Journal and talking politics.

Beloved wife of the late John M. Mother of John T. McFadden of Sharon. Sister of the late Evelyn Aubert and Eileen Jamison. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth “Bette” J. (Fitzgerald) Sullivan Barr, of Canton, passed away April 13, 2014, at the age of 92.

barrA devoted wife and mother, Bette was a wonderful artist and extremely talented with all arts and crafts. She was a member and officer of both the Canton Catholic Women’s Club and Community Club. She was a longtime yoga practitioner and taught classes for many years. She enjoyed traveling all over the world but always loved coming home to her family.

Beloved wife of the late Edward L. Sullivan Sr. and R. Douglas Barr. Loving mother of Edward L. Sullivan Jr. and his wife, Kathy, JoAnne E. Sullivan, Kathleen M. Snyder, FrancesBorn and raised in Hyde Park, Frances attended Boston Public Schools, Bunker Hill College, and Northeastern University. She lived in Canton for 16 years. Frances worked as a hematologist for Boston City Hospital for over 15 years before retiring in 1994.

Beloved wife of Mark F. of Canton. Loving sister of Robert Signori of Lakeville and the late Patricia-Ann Yanchuk. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew.

Eileen Smedile (O’Keeffe), of Canton, died April 19, 2014, with her family by her side at Steward Norwood Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Golden, a village in Tipperary, Ireland, she came to the U.S. as a young woman. Eileen worked as a registered nurse for over 50 years at Faulkner Hospital and for several local nursing homes until retiring in 2004.

Daughter of the late Daniel and Mary O’Keeffe. Devoted wife of Vincent P. Smedile of Canton. Loving mother of Erin M. Gleason and her husband, Stephen, of Canton, and Michael D. Smedile of Canton. Sister of Hannah Moloney and her husband, Simon, of Cloughaleigh, Tipperary, Mary Butler and her husband, John, of Dundrum, Tipperary, Daniel O’Keeffe and his wife, Martina, of Golden, Tipperary, and Seamus O’Keeffe of Farranamanagh, Tipperary. Affectionately known as “Tedi” to her friends and family, she was a generous and loving wife, mother, and friend. Tedi was born in Boston to the late Harold and Florence (Capillo) Ramsay. She grew up in Maine and Dorchester and graduated from the Dorchester High School for Girls. She married Carl S. Sawtelle in 1950, to whom she remained married for 64 years.

Tedi worked for Shawmut Bank at the North Station branch before having a family. She was also the dedicated personal assistant for Mrs. Eleanor Cabot Bradley of Canton for many years. She was a devoted mother who never missed any event that involved her daughters. She delighted in entertaining friends and family with her frequent celebrations of life events. Tedi was an avid tap dancer and was often known to “put on a show” with her friends. She reveled in spending time with her three grandsons, who she called “her boys.”

Loving mother of Lisa J. Sawtelle of Canton and Tracy L. (Sawtelle) Bailey-Gates and her husband, Shawn D. Bailey-Gates, of Harrisville, RI. Proud grandmother to Brian, Christopher, and Michael Bailey-Gates. She leaves several nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service was held April 14 in the United Church of Christ in Canton. Donations in Tedi’s name can be made to the ASPCA, or to an animal shelter of your choice. Arrangements by the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
